Biography

Morgane Gregory is part of the new generation of Breton harpists, dynamic and with a strong innovative potential. Born into a family of music lovers (rock, pop, world music) from the Bassin d’Arcachon, she has been passionate about music and dance since she was a child. At the age of 4, she stepped on stage for the first time; a rich musical and artistic career of about twenty years followed.

Morgane began her training with classical music formation at the age of 6 with the harpist Carole Lalaurie in Arcachon (Gironde, 33). She moved to Brest (Bretagne, 29) at the age of 18 to study traditional music, notably with Nikolaz Cadoret, and continued to expand her knowledge at the Pont Supérieur de Rennes (Bretagne, 35). Morgane rubs shoulders with musicians from all over the world during training sessions and festivals, encounters which today nourish her artistic personality, her arrangements and her compositions. She is keen to pass on her passion and teaches the harp and music in courses and workshops.

Morgane arranges and composes in her own way traditional popular music – trad’actual music –, as a soloist (1st prize and audience prize at the Trophée Camac 2017 at the FIL) and within emerging groups (BISIAD with whom she will release a first album in 2021, DIXIT with whom she won various fest-noz prizes, « KANIGAT » with compositions and solos clarinet bass/harp/drums). Her fascination for dance led her to the Tap Breizh Company (American tap dance) with whom she regularly performs on stage. She joined the Collectif ARP in autumn 2021, and now works alongside renowned Breton harpists: Clotilde Trouillaud, Cristine Mérienne, Nikolaz Cadoret, Alice Soria-Cadoret, Kevin Le Pennec. Her passion and curiosity for experimenting with sound has led her to develop a style of playing that combines acoustic and electric, working on the sound of her lever harp with various effects pedals. Her compositions take you to the edge of the world, where there are no more borders and where everything mixes…
